The search for love can be endless and involves waiting. The man in "Guanyong'' is sleepless because he cannot get the affection he seeks; the shy girl, "When will the locust tree bloom", who waits for the locust tree to bloom and for her lover to return. This type of waiting is an eager sort.
A poet stares at yellow flowers on the ground, as rain drizzles on the sycamore trees. With no sight of his former lover, what he sees in front of him evokes so many beautiful memories of the past. And, for whom does the sad/angry looking beauty await behind her beaded curtains? Some people yearn for past love. This kind of waiting is a painful sort.
Scene by scene, step by step, life waits to unfold. When we are young, we wait to grow up. When we grow up, we wait for a job, promotion, marriage, children, and retirement. It is only at the end, squinting our eyes in pursuit of lost youth – while sitting in the park under the dim light of morning – that we realise we have reached life’s expiry date. This sort of waiting is helpless.

Coincidentally, this album was also completed while searching and waiting.
Lyricist Li Wen and composer/arranger Ivan are my old friends whom I reunited by chance after losing contact for more than ten to twenty years. The three of us created an oasis of music and words together in an absurd world while the coronavirus was raging.
Poetry is the soul and music is the carrier.
Liwen claims that she is a poet who does not write poetry, but she is a person who has poetry in her heart. Ivan is a self-taught musician who handles composing, arranging and publishing.
The album had been on and off in the past few years, and now it is 2024. Searching and searching, our journey was not abandoned. After the wait of three years, the album is finally completed.
Thank you, my friends.

"Hello friends, Ivan here. This album has been three years in the making, and completed with the help of three friends.
This is a Mandarin-Pop concept album with sung vocals by my talented friend and long-time musical collaborator, Minwen. Lyrics on tracks 01, 03, 06 are by a self-professed "SG Aunty" Liwen from her collection of original poems. All other lyrics are mostly adapted from ancient Classical Chinese poems. Artwork is by my kopi-buddy, choobkr.
Whether you understand Mandarin or not, I sincerely hope that you'll find some entertainment and enjoyment with some of the songs."
