Nightmare (Dream On)
Time to put those toys away
It has been a very long day
Let me read you a story
Do not go to sleep afraid
[Chorus]
Dream on (Into the space)
On a butterfly full of daisies (Leaving Earth without a trace)
Dream on
In a lemon full of trees (Into the sun we race)
Daddy's floating into space
Playing astronaut, without a face
I'm superman without power
Stranded, crying on the moon
[Repeat Chorus]
We shall fold our paper boats
Into the blue, they will float
Close your eyes, little darling
Tomorrow's just a world away
[Repeat Chorus]
Sweet dreams…
Sweet dreams…

[Verse 1]
She popped a coin
Into the jukebox
And smoked a cigarette
With her eyes closed
Swaying her body
Shuffling her feet
[Verse 2]
He held his breath
Across the dance floor
Waking from a dream
Two hearts unfold
Without introductions
As an old song begins
[CHORUS]
(A coin locker baby)
Who will dance with me
with me, with me
A coin locker baby
baby, baby
Who will dance with me
with me, with me
A coin locker baby
baby, baby
[repeat verse 1]
[repeat chorus]

KEY: Fm
BPM: 103
We were scientists of music
singing our Space opera
Driving our spaceship
To somewhere
To nowhere
Playing on
Playing on
Till the moon explodes
Playing on
playing on
Till the asteroids implode
CHORUS:
We were the creatures of Mars
Drenched in a stardust shower
We were the creatures of Mars
Killed in a boom of gunpowder
[repeat Chorus]
We played the hero
And threw out bass lines
Saving somersaulting astronauts
Who lost their grips and nerves, and got lost in space, lost in space
Playing on
Playing on
Till the moon explodes
Playing on
playing on
Till the asteroids implode
[repeat Chorus]
Bridge:
Feeding on the vibrations of music, music
[repeat Chorus]

(140bpm/ Key of D)
D F#m G Bm
Let us start this by sharing some advice
D F#m G Bm
To always look for signs that light our darkest nights
D F#m G Bm
If an hour, it seems painfully far
D F#m G Bm-A
Take a minute, we'll surely reach the stars
Em A G D/
Solutions to problems might just be the simpliest
Em A G D/
When the complications are not clouding your mind
Em A G D/
Remember the first to apologise are never the weakest
Em F#m G-A-G-A
Nor would you lose anything by saying hello
CHORUS
D F#m
Here's to goodbyes
G Bm/A
Here's to all the memories shared

Leaving this behind

Leaving hopes that it will guide us to light

The album name came about from a text chat with my friend, Ridhwan (who collaborated on Track 4). When he suggested "Getting By" as a album title, I felt it sounded a bit subdued. But then in view of current events, it occurred to me that being able to get by wasn't half bad at all.
These four songs were composed before Jan 2020, way before Covid-19. As this album goes 'live', Singapore -- where the three of us live -- is a week into our "Stay Home" (some call it a Lockdown) period. Many parts of the world have been under their own version of lockdowns for longer.
This is a Four-track album with Minwen on vocals. She also wrote most of the words in this album. This album also features a musical friend Mohd Ridhwan (
www.facebook.com/wanoligarchy) whose lyrics make the fourth track.
Vocals were recorded by Minwen on her own, with basic off-the-shelf equipment. We worked on this on our own time and homes, coordinating via WhatsApp chats and sharing files over cloud drives.
We hope these songs bring you a little joy, as we all patiently hunker down, slowly moving towards the light at the end of the tunnel.
Download the songs for free (set the price as $0), share with friends. The songs are released under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-commercial license
