空​の​歌 sora no uta (Song of the Sky) ft Vocaloid Kaori

This is my second 'Vocaloid song' experiment. The words were conceived in 2019, with my Japanese friend, Kanako. She's a paragliding enthusiast and would post photos of her 'adventures in the sky' from time to time.

I asked Kanako if she'd like to collaborate on a song, with her providing some words that I could remix. Something to do with the feeling of being in the sky. She sent a few lines, with English translations also. If any words seem off, it would be my fault since I do not speak any Japanese and I rely on Google Translate for my remixing.

All instruments in this track are software: The 'singer' (Kaori) is from the Yamaha Vocaloid software; guitars and all instruments are also software driven ones; all mixing and mastering on Logic Pro X.

I wanted a somewhat 70s feel to the song, with a modern poprock rendition. It took more than a year to finally release this, not entirely because of COVID-19, although that was part of the reason. I'm glad I waited because I finaly learned some new mixing and mastering tricks so that I could get the sound to be as close to what I want (and what my current skills can do anyway -- constant work-in-progress and much more ways to go!)
